MOSCOW Nicolas Otamendi Jersey UK , Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Russia successfully launched a Soyuz MS-07 spaceship with three astronauts on board from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Sunday, Russia's State Space Corporation Roscosmos said in a statement.
The spaceship was propelled by a Soyuz-FG rocket, which blasted off at 10:21 Moscow time (0721 GMT) from "Gagarin's Start" launching pad, and it is planned to dock with the International Space Station (ISS) at around 11:43 Moscow time (0843 GMT) Tuesday.

TIANJIN, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Nina Schultz is carrying on a family tradition in track and field by taking part in the javelin and shot put competitions at the ongoing 13th Chinese National Games.
The 18-year-old Schultz, a U20 heptathlon athlete, finished 18th in javelin with a throw of 45.04m on Saturday, but she made history as the only Chinese Canadian to compete in China's quadrennial sports gala. She is not the first person in her immediate family to shatter records here at the National Games.
Schultz's grandmother Zheng Fengrong completed a high jump of 1.77m in 1957. Aged 20 at the time, she beat the previous world record 1.76m. The result made her the first Chinese to break an athletics world record. But Zheng never had a chance to compete in the Olympics. Now aged 80, Zheng is here in Tianjin to support her granddaughter and watch her compete.
"I came here not out of a sudden impulse, but because I always wanted to fulfill my grandmother's dream of competing in the Olympics," said Schultz in quite fluent Chinese.
She is currently applying for Chinese citizenship in order to be able to represent China in the Olympics.
"I want to participate in the 2020 Games to honor my grandma, ideally with a gold medal," added Schultz, who just flew to China on 31 August.
Schultz comes from a family with track and field tradition that goes back two generations. Her mother, a high jump athlete, immigrated to Canada in the 1990s. Schultz's grandfather, Duan Qiyan, won the high jump championship at the 1st Chinese National Games.
Her family worked hard to pass on their love of the sport to Schultz. She says she started training for track and field events under the guidance of her grandparents at the age of 8.
"At that time, I had no idea what my grandma had achieved. I want to be better than her, even though I know how difficult it is to break a world record now," said Schultz, currently a student at Kansas State University.
Schultz currently trains with the renowned K-State track and field coach Cliff Rovelto, who served as an assistant coach for the U.S. at the Rio Olympics.
"Nina trains hard. I am sure she will improve a lot with Mr. Rovelto," said Zheng.

NAIROBI, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's security officers have launched investigations into doping claims among athletes, saying the vice was painting the East African nation negatively.
The move came after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said it has forwarded Kenya's case to its independent compliance process after the country failed to meet its deadline to combat the vice.
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet confirmed Sunday that the police are already following up crucial leads that may lead to the possible arrest of suspects soon, saying some "persons of interest" are being pursued in the doping claims.
"For those few acting in cahoots with their associates to indulge in doping is messing up the important facet of our athletics life is a great dishonor we are your case," said Boinnet.
Media reports were awash with claims Kenya would be handed an international ban like Russia by WADA but the anti-doping body said in a statement on Friday the reports were pre-mature but insisted the matter was now in the hands of a compliance committee.
WADA will review what has been done so far and if it is not satisfied with the process in place to clean up the sport in a country that has seen over 40 runners banned for doping violations, Kenya could find herself barred from the Brazil Summer Games.
WADA confirmed that while some progress has been made with the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK), there is still a lot of work required.
The global anti-doping body said it has been awaiting concrete plans from the Kenyan government for the funding of the National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO), and, crucially, the finalization of Kenya's legislation and anti-doping rules.
ADAK was given legal force via a Cabinet decree late December but it is yet to formally start operations.
The local anti-doping body will be charged with drawing up a legal framework to criminalise doping, investigate cases and lead the prosecution of athletes, managers, coaches, agents and suppliers of banned substances in court.
But Boinnet noted that doping claims among Kenyan athletes is painting Kenyan athletics negatively and ruining the name of the country as an "athletics superpower."
Speaking at the National Cross-Country Championships, Boinnet asked athletes to keep off the vice, saying the police are already working with the athletics fraternity to stem the rise in doping cases among athletes.
