CAPE TOWN Air Jordan 1 Retro Wheat , Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- South African police fired rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse protesters as a strike by taxi drivers turned violent in Cape Town on Monday.
The strike began peacefully in the morning but soon turned violent when protesters burned buses and threw stones at police and passing vehicles, according to police.
Police fired rubber bullets and tear gas to bring the situation under control, police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said.
There was no report of injuries at the moment, the spokesperson said.
Several roads in and around the city were blocked, leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
Taxi drivers staged the strike to press their demand that their grievances be addressed.
Among the grievances are the impounding of vehicles and a disagreement over the election of new taxi leadership in the Western Cape province.
Taxi operators are unhappy about the leadership of the Congress of Democratic Taxi Association and have called for intervention by the provincial government.
The Western Cape government said it is working to resolve the problems and urged the strikers not to resort to violence during the protest.
The South African Police Services (SAPS) said it was working closely with other law enforcement officials from metro police and traffic services to prevent road closures and traffic disruptions.
"We urge the those participating in the strike to respect other road users who are not part of the strike. As law enforcement agencies we will not hesitate to act on those who break the law and infringe upon the rights of others," SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said.

MADRID, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The New Zealand national Rugby Union team, known as the "All Blacks", were on Wednesday named as the winners of the 2017 Princess Of Asturias Award for Sports.
The award was made public in the city of Oviedo by the jury which explained that the All Blacks, who are the reigning World Champions Air Jordan 1 High Wheat , are "the most successful national team in the history of the sport, having won three of the eight World Championships that have taken place to date (1987, 2011 and 2015)."
It also highlighted that since New Zealand's official debut in 1903, "only Australia, England, France Air Jordan 1 Wheat Pre Order , South Africa and Wales have defeated New Zealand in an official test match," and with a winning percentage of 76 percent, "the New Zealand team is among the most successful teams in any sport."

NANNING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Li Xiuying was never re-united with her French lover after war parted them Air Jordan 1 Wheat 2017 , but a new Chinese-French movie may allow them to meet again on the screen.
Chenxiang Mountain is the latest film to be co-produced by China and France following The Nightingale and Wolf Totem. Set during WWII, it tells the love story between a Chinese girl and a French soldier.
Shooting started on Sunday in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Fan Yiping, who wrote the script, said the film was inspired by the love story an ethnic Yao woman from Shangsi County, a mountainous part of Guangxi.
Li Xiuying met the soldier in 1945 as the French army, defeated by the Japanese Air Jordan 1 Wheat , retreated from Vietnam into China. The soldier left a year later with his army and Li waited over 70 years for his return. Li died in 2013, at 95.
"The script writing took me five years to write, but it was nothing compared to Li's wait," said Fan, who met Li five years ago.
Denis Dercourt, French director of the film Jordan 1 Retro Wheat , is also a musician. He said apart from using image and scenery to enhance the love theme, music will also play an important role in the movie.
