WASHINGTON， Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Sales of U.S. new homes rose in September， echoing a modest increase of U.S. housing market in the second half of 2016

The sales of new single-family houses in June were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 593，000， 3.1 percent above the revised August level， and 29.8 percent above the same period last year the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

The data is lower than the market expectation of 600，000， and the sales for August were revised down sharply to 575，000 from earlier estimation of 609，000.

The median sales price of new houses stood at 313，500 U.S. dollars in September. The seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of September was 235，000 units， which represented a supply of 4.8 months at the current sales rate.

Existing home sales， the major part of the U.S. housing market increased 3.2 percent from August to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.47 million in September， boosted by increasing first-time buyers， said the National Association of Realtors (NAR) last week.

The momentum for sales to first-time buyers may last through the rest of the year and into next spring， primarily supported by consistent job gains and affordable mortgage rates， according to NAR's expectation.

WASHINGTON Josh Donaldson Jersey , Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Robert Lighthizer on Friday formally launched a Section 301 investigation into alleged intellectual property practices by China under a rarely used 1974 trade law, triggering concerns that Washington may unilaterally impose restrictions that would eventually hurt both countries.

"The investigation will seek to determine whether acts, policies, and practices of the Government of China related to technology transfer, intellectual property Jose Bautista Jersey , and innovation are unreasonable or discriminatory and burden or restrict U.S. commerce," the USTR's Office said in a statement.

The move comes after U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive memorandum directing Lighthizer to consider the possible initiation of an investigation, signaling his administration's tough trade stance against China.

Section 301, once heavily used in the 1980s and the early 1990s, allows the U.S. president to unilaterally impose tariffs or other trade restrictions on foreign countries. But the United States has rarely used the outdated trade tool since the World Trade Organization came into being in 1995.

"The 301 toolkit was retired for good reason. Bringing it back in 2017 is likely to be more deeply problematic to more firms in more places than many might expect Joe Carter Jersey ," said Deborah Elms, founder and executive director of the Asian Trade Centre based in Singapore.
