CHINA’S luxury market is the fastest growing in the world cheap asics gel atena rf , set to rise an astounding 15 percent annually thanks to renewed confidence, middle class acceleration, and consumer sophistication.
This comes amidst accelerating growth in the global luxury market, which is expected to add 5 percent to an estimated 1.2 trillion euros (US$1.4 trillion) in 2017, a recent study shows.
Chinese consumers, who are increasingly fashion-savvy, are boosting sales in local markets, which are expected to reach 20 billion euros this year, with contribution to global luxury buying by them estimated to represent 32 percent of the overall market in 2017.
The core market for personal luxury goods reached a new record high of 262 billion euros, boosted by a return of Chinese buying both at home and abroad as well as stronger purchasing trends in other regions, according to the “Bain & Company Luxury Study” released in collaboration with Fondazione Altagamma, the Italian luxury goods manufacturers’ industry foundation.
“We started to see stronger momentum in the first half of the year, and this has continued in recent months, allowing the market for personal luxury goods to really regain its luster,” said Claudia D’Arpizio, a Bain partner and lead author of the study.
“The growth in this market is more robust, driven by increases in volumes rather than prices and a rediscovered balance between tourist purchases and re-ignited local consumption,” she added.
The positive growth in the global market is set to continue at around 4 to 5 percent annually in the next three years, with the personal luxury goods market seen to reach 295 to 305 billion euros by 2020.
Bain estimates online sales for personal luxury goods to take 25 percent of the market by 2025, with stores still accounting for 75 percent of purchases.
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Those who struggle in social situations may be at greater risk for mental and physical health problems, according to a new study from the University of Arizona, which is among the first to link social skills to physical, not just mental, health.
"We've known for a long time that social skills are associated with mental health problems like depression and anxiety," study author Chris Segrin, head of the UA Department of Communication, was quoted as saying in a news release.
"But we've not known definitively that social skills were also predictive of poorer physical health. Two variables -- loneliness and stress -- appear to be the glue that bind poor social skills to health. People with poor social skills have high levels of stress and loneliness in their lives," said Segrin.
The study, published recently in the journal Health Communication, is based on a survey of a nationally representative sample of 775 people, age 18 to 91, who were asked to respond online to questions designed to measure social skills, stress, loneliness, and mental and physical health.
The research focused on four specific indicators of social skills, including the ability to provide emotional support to others; self-disclosure, or the ability to share personal information with others; negative assertion skills, or the ability to stand up to unreasonable requests from others; and relationship initiation skills, or the ability to introduce yourself to others and get to know them.
Study participants with poor social skills tend to experience more stress and loneliness, both of which can negatively impact health, researcher says.
While the negative effects of stress on the body have been known for a long time, loneliness is a more recently recognized health risk factor.
The good news, Segrin says, is that social skills have proved to be amenable to intervention. Unfortunately, however, many people who have poor social skills don't realize it, Segrin said.
BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese loans to countries and regions along the Belt and Road will not add to local debt burden, while risks rising from such loans are under control, bank officials said Thursday.
Ding Xiangqun, vice president of China Development Bank (CDB), said at a press conference that the majority of projects supported by the CDB generated sufficient cash flow to pay back the principal and interest.
"It's quite biased to say that our loans add to local debt burden as we choose the projects very carefully, making sure they have economic value," said Ding..
She added that the bank also had strict credit requirements for sovereign loans, making sure the terms on these loans are in line with those required by the International Monetary Fund.
Sun Ping, vice president of the Export-Import Bank of China (China Exim Bank), said the bank has established risk-control mechanisms to evaluate the feasibility of loans based on the upper limit of debt that each country could bear, and widespread defaults on sovereign debts are unlikely.
"With strict measures to mitigate risks, I'm confident that the level of non-performing loans will remain under control," said Sun.
Since the launch of the Belt of Road Initiative in 2013, China Exim Bank has supported more than 1,200 projects related to the initiative, with contracted value surpassing 700 billion yuan (about 101.4 billion U.S. dollars)
By the end of 2016, CDB had given more than 160 billion U.S. dollars of loans to countries along the Belt and Road to support development in industries such as infrastructure and energy resources, according to Ding.
As China steps up financial support for the Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese financial institutions are also increasing their global presence.
A China-proposed association to promote financial cooperation among Asian countries and regions will be established soon, according to Pan Guangwei, vice head of the China Banking Association.
