South Bend, IN - The top-10 ACC showdown at Purcell Pavilion lived up to its billing, and it was Notre Dame -- particularly Jerian Grant -- providing the big plays down the stretch to steal a signature win from Duke. Ryan Kelly Jersey . Grant finished with 23 points, 12 assists and six rebounds as the eighth- ranked Fighting Irish survived a 77-73 nail-biter against the fourth-ranked Blue Devils. Duke led by 10 midway through the second half before the Irish rallied for their fourth comeback victory during a five-game winning streak. Grant was the catalyst, but Notre Dame (20-2, 8-1 ACC) had plenty of contributors. Pat Connaughton chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds, Zach Auguste scored 14 points and Steve Vasturia drained a huge 3-pointer in crunch time. That one absolutely lived up to the hype, said Notre Dame coach Mike Brey. Two really good teams going at it. There was a slight letdown for Duke (17-3, 4-3) following the celebration of Mike Krzyzewskis 1,000th career victory over the weekend, as no one other than Jahlil Okafor made a field goal over the final 12-plus minutes. I thought our guys played winning basketball and obviously they did too, said Krzyzewski. Grant had a great game. Hes a terrific player. Okafor totaled 22 points and 17 rebounds but struggled at the foul line, making just 2-of-7 with two critical misses under three minutes remaining. Vasturias two free throws followed Okafors empty trip to give Notre Dame a 71-70 lead with 2:15 remaining, and after Okafor was short on a strong post move on the left block, Grant calmly dribbled away the shot clock. Tyus Jones nearly stripped the ball away with time winding down, but Grant recovered just in time and sent a contested prayer up at the foul line that found the bottom of the net with 1:07 to go. Dukes Quinn Cook followed with two free throws inside the final minute, and again Grant killed time with what seemed like aimless dribbling. This time, though, he swung the ball to Vasturia for a corner 3-pointer that put the Irish in front 76-72 with 22.9 seconds showing. We has always been the kid that makes the right play, Connaughton said about Grant. Its never about him getting the points, its all about him making the winning play. Grants block of Cook at the other end then helped the Irish seal the impressive win. Midway through the first half, Grant made two 3-pointers -- including one from the inside the shamrock at midcourt -- during a 14-2 run that gave Notre Dame a 25-18 lead. There was a brief scare for Okafor when he grimaced and had his right knee looked at on the bench later in the period. The future NBA lottery pick was quickly cleared and returned with a baseline spin move for a layup that put Duke back in front at 29-28. Cook capped his 13-point first half with a 3-pointer and layup inside the final 90 seconds, and the Blue Devils went into the break with a 39-36 advantage. Cook was 5-for-5 from the field in the first half and 0-for-6 in the second. Twenty-five points were scored before the first media timeout of a fast-paced second half, but when play resumed only the Blue Devils kept their foot on the gas. Jones scored four quick points, Justise Winslow drained a 3-pointer and Okafor slammed home a rebound to suddenly give Duke a 60-51 cushion. Another Okafor bucket inside made it a 10-point game at 65-55, but the Irish fought back with 12 consecutive points to regain the lead. Auguste tied it with a left-handed hook shot in the lane with 7:10 to play, then found a cutting Grant for a layup with a bounce pass the next time down. Okafor ended Dukes drought with consecutive buckets, but the Blue Devils missed their final three shots and went just 4-of-9 from the foul line over the final four-plus minutes. Newtons 9-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Stewart in the fourth quarter was the difference, and Carolina topped the Cleveland Browns, 17-13, on Sunday. The scoring strike to Stewart, which capped a 7-play, 66-yard drive, came less than three minutes after the Browns took their first lead on Brian Hoyers 81-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jordan Cameron. The Lions came into the game having been assured of a playoff spot due to Philadelphias loss to Washington on Saturday. It is the first time since the 2011 season that the team has made it to the postseason. Green Bay also locked up a playoff spot Sunday. Matthew Stafford had a rough game as he went just 22-for-39 for 243 yards with a pair of red zone interceptions, while Reggie Bush also had a rushing touchdown for the Lions (11-4), who have won four straight to reach 11 wins for the first time since going 12-4 in 1991. Jimmy Clausen played admirably in the start, as he was under center in favor of a benched Jay Cutler. Clausen finished the game 23-for-39 for 181 yards and a pair of touchdown passes along with an interception for the Bears (5-10), who have lost their past four games. Final Score: Houston 25, Baltimore 13 Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Randy Bullock converted a franchise-record six field goals while Arian Foster threw a touchdown pass as the Houston Texans downed the Baltimore Ravens, 25-13, in Week 16 action. Case Keenum passed for 185 yards and was picked off once after completing 20-of-42 passes to record his first career win as a starter for the Texans (8-7), who guaranteed themselves at least a .500 season with their third win in the last four. Foster also racked up a game-high 96 yards rushing on 25 attempts while C.J. Fiedorowicz was the beneficiary of his scoring throw. Andre Johnson totaled 65 yards on six catches and reached the 1,000-reception plateau. Joe Flacco had one of his worst days as a professional, completing only 21 of his 50 passes for 195 yards, two touchdowns to Torrey Smith and three interceptions for the Ravens (9-6), who had a two-game win streak snapped. The blocked punt came after Damien Williams 3-yard TD catch tied the game for the Dolphins. The fourth quarter featured a combined 41 points. Despite the win, Miami (8-7) was eliminated from playoff contention due to the Steelers win over Kansas City. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said in the locker room after the game that head coach Joe Philbin will be back next season. Entering this critical divisional showdown ranked at the bottom of the NFL in total defense, pass defense and sacks, the Falcons put forth their best effort of the year on that side of the ball to set up a winner- take-all matchup with Carolina for the NFC South crown next Sunday at the Georgia Dome. Atlanta (6-9) held the Saints to 328 total yards and came up with five sacks and four takeaways, including a pivotal fumble from Jimmy Graham at the goal line early in the fourth quarter and Osi Umenyioras 86-yard fumble return touchdown on the final play. Ryan did his part as well, completing a sharp 30-of-40 passes with a touchdown and no turnovers. Julio Jones racked up 107 yards on seven catches after not practicing the entire week due to a hip injury. Ben Roethlisberger threw a touchdown pass and Pittsburghs defense held strong in a 20-12 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Heinz Field. The Steelers (10-5) secured a wild card berth and will host Cincinnati next Sunday for the AFC North title. The Bengals (9-4-1) host AFC West-champion Denver Monday night. Pittsburgh, in the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 season, held the Chiefs (8-7) out of the end zone and limited them to four Cairo Santos field goals. Kansas Citys playoff hopes are slim heading into next Sundays home game against San Diego (9-6). The Steelers exacted revenge on the Chiefs for last season. In the final week, Kansas City rested the majority of its starters in a 27-24 overtime loss to San Diego. That ultimately knocked Pittsburgh out of playoff contention. The Chiefs lost for the fourth time in five games. Final Score: Green Bay 20, Tampa Bay 3 Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Packers clinched a spot in the playoffs for the sixth straight season on the backs of their defense, limiting the Buccaneers to 109 yards of offense in a 20-3 win over Tampa Bay Sunday. Next week the Packers host the Detroit Lions, and the winner of that game clinches the NFC North title. Detroit rallied for a 20-14 win at Chicago Sunday. Offensively the Packers (11-4) were led by Aaron Rodgers once again as he threw for 318 yards and a touchdown to Jordy Nelson. Rodgers completed 31-of-40 passes. Nelson caught nine passes for 113 yards and fellow receiver Randall Cobb set career highs with 11 catches and 131 receiving yards. Eddie Lacy ran for 99 yards on 17 carries, including a 44- yard touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter. Tampa Bay (2-13) got only 16 rushing yards, led by Doug Martin with 17. His longest run of the day was four yards. McCown completed just 12-of-26 passes for 147 yards. Vincent Jackson caught three passes for 60 yards, and Mike Evans added 49 yards on four receptions. New Yorks third straight victory featured another jaw-dropping performance by the rookie sennsation, who followed up an 11-reception, 130-yard effort at Tennessee in Week 14 with last Sundays 12-grab, 143-yard, three-touchdown display against Washington. Final Score: Dallas 42, Indianapolis 7 Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Tony Romo threw for 218 yards with four touchdowns on 18-of-20 efficiency to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a 42-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts, and help clinch the franchises 19th NFC East title in the process. Dallas (11-4), which just needed a win in one of its final two games after Philadelphias loss to Washington on Saturday, captured the division crown for the first time since 2009. The Eagles, meanwhile, have been eliminated from playoff contention. DeMarco Murray was active even though he underwent surgery Monday on his fractured left hand sustained in last Sundays win over the Eagles. Murray rushed for 58 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown. Terrance Williams hauled in two touchdown passes, while Jason Witten, Dez Bryant and Cole Beasley each had a touchdown grab in the Cowboys third straight win. The Colts (10-5), who clinched the AFC South last week, had their four-game winning streak snapped. Andrew Luck threw for a career-low 109 yards on 15-of-22 passing with two interceptions before getting substituted for Matt Hasselbeck late in the third. Lynch broke off a career-high 79-yard scamper to put the game away as the Seahawks seized control of the NFC West with a 35-6 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday night. The Seahawks had already held a 21-6 advantage before Lynch took a handoff off left tackle. He burst through the hole and cut across the field along the right sideline and stiff-armed Arizona cornerback Patrick Peterson at the Seattle 45. Lynch then powered through Peterson and Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson across midfield and Alex Okafor was unable to make a shoe-string tackle at the 20 before he leapt into the end zone to complete the phenomenal touchdown. The Redskins snapped a six-game losing streak and dealt a significant blow to the Eagles playoff hopes. Philadelphia has lost three straight games since a Thanksgiving win at Dallas gave it sole possession of first place in the NFC East. A win at home by the Cowboys against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday will eliminate the Eagles from postseason contention. The Eagles (9-6) have been prone to turning the ball over this season and cornerback Bashaud Breeland intercepted Mark Sanchezs pass at the Washington 42-yard line inside the two- minute warning. Rivers led two touchdown drives in the final nine minutes of regulation and Weddle forced a fumble that led to Nick Novaks winning 40-yard field goal in overtime, as the Chargers rallied to beat the San Francisco 49ers 38-35 in a thriller on Saturday night. San Diego trailed by 21 points at halftime and by 14 in the fourth quarter before Rivers touchdown passes to Antonio Gates and Malcom Floyd, the last one coming with 29 seconds left on the clock. Weddle, the veteran safety, stripped wide receiver Quinton Patton on a 20-yard end-around -- just San Franciscos second play in overtime -- and Novak split the uprights for the win. Rivers passed for 356 yards with four touchdowns and San Diego (9-6) overcame his three interceptions, including two that led to 14 San Francisco points in the first half.
