China launched a multilingual international broadcast network on Saturday which experts believe could play a role in seizing a greater share of global discourse.


Launched Saturday by the China Central Television as a rebranding of CCTV news Grossiste Air Max Belgique , the China Global Television Network (CGTN) is designed as a multilingual, multi-platform media group consisting of six TV channels, three overseas branches, a video content provider and a digital media division Grossiste Air Max , the Xinhua News Agency reported.


Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated CGTN on its launch, urging it to "tell China stories well" to the world.


"The relationship between China and the rest of the world is undergoing historic changes. China needs to know more about the world and the world needs to know more about China," Xi said in a congratulatory letter to the CGTN, Xinhua reported.
